Who We Are

Introduction:

Banyankore Kweterana New England (BKNE) was established in 2023 in Boston, Massachusetts, as a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting Banyankore in the diaspora. Born from the concept of Banyankore Kweterana International (BKI), BKNE strives to foster unity and cooperation.

Cultural Connection

Based upon the original concept of Banyankore Kweterana International (BKI) an umbrella organization that was started by Banyankore residents in California, USA in 2014 with an aim of uniting all Banyankore in the diaspora, Banyankore Kweterana New England Chapter was born.

Banyankore Kweterana New England (BKNE) is a registered non-profit organization that was established in 2023 in Boston Massachusetts with an aim of fostering unity and cooperation amongst all Banyankore, relatives and friends of Banyankore/ANKORE living within the New England states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont and other surrounding states. BKNE is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich cultural the heritage of ANKORE and strengthening the ties between Banyankore in the USA and their homeland.

The United States of America, a vibrant mosaic of diverse cultures, has always been a land of opportunity, attracting immigrants from across the globe. Among these diverse groups, the Banyankore have emerged as an active and influential part of the American social fabric. Despite their success in the US, for many Banyankore and Ugandans at large, Uganda remains an important part of their identity. The memories of their homeland, the traditions they grew up with, and the values they inherited from their ancestors continue to shape their lives. This emotional connection to ANKORE is a driving force behind the creation of BKNE.

Born in Kajara in the District of Bushenyi,present Ntungamo District.

Susan Tibeijuka

Treasurer

Susan Tibeijuka was born and raised in Bushenyi; Igara, Bumbaire Subcounty.

Moses Agwisagye

Secretary

Born and raised in Kashare Kashari Currently Kashari North Constituency.
